Documentum: IndexAgent uninstalled continues to queue requests

By | Application integration & Middleware | No Comments

We had a strange behavior by a customer regarding the indexing queue. We used to have two IA configured and we uninstalled one. I figured out that we still had indexing queue requests for the old index agent while it was totally uninstalled. I checked the following objects to see if the agent was still configured somewhere: dm_fulltext_index, dm_ftengine_config, dm_ftindex_agent_config. But the old IA was not declared anymore. The main problem is that it continued…

DA 7.2 UCF Transfer failing with SSL

By | Application integration & Middleware | No Comments

This is a blog following the one I already wrote ealier:  https://blog.dbi-services.com/documentum-administrator-ucf-troubleshooting/ The first one was for “how to find the error” and not how to resolve it. In this blog I will talk about an error I got by a customer about UCF. I got an error message using DA 7.2 where I coulnd’t download documents, in fact every transfer were failing due to UCF. By following my previous blog I found the specific…

BLOG Technoark 2017 Conference – Blockchain, beyond the bitcoin. and How applying Blockchain for Enterprise security and data management. I post a brief personal impression of the TechnoArk Conference 2017 in TechnoArk center of Sierre /Switzerland) This TechnoArk Center is based on three essentials parts: • The Ark Accelerator leverages new technologies and guides them to a commercial application. Documentum D2 4.5 and IE compatibility and F5

By | Application integration & Middleware | No Comments

We had a problem with a customer where D2 was not loading properly in IE when going through F5 (load balancer). When trying to access D2 through the F5, let’s say: https://d2prod/D2 only a few menus and some part of the workspace were loading but it ended to say “Unexpected error occured”. Investigation It would have been too easy if this error appeared in the logs, but it didn’t. So that means it was not…

dbi Tail ranked as the 4th best alternative !

By | Database Administration & Monitoring | No Comments

Dear colleagues, Since the publication of the dbi Tail one year ago, lots of people downloaded, and some reporters wrote articles about it. We have got many positive feedbacks, and we would like to thank you all for your attention !   The best article is from Softpedia website, and the author made an interesting description of the tool as you can see: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/File-Management/dbi-Tail.shtml   More interesting, in June, the tool was published alongside of…

Documentum story – Add the Java urandom inside the wlst.sh script to improve the performance of all WLST sessions

By | Enterprise content management | No Comments

WebLogicServer takes a long time (e.g. over 15 minutes) to startup. Can the performance be improved? Using /dev/urandom option in the Weblogic Java Virtual Machine parameters from startup script, can be the solution. In fact, /dev/random is a blocking device and during times of low entropy (when there is not enough random bits left in it), /dev/random will block any processes reading from it (and hence hang) until more random bits have been generated. So,…

Documentum story – How to avoid “DFC_FILE_LOCK_ACQUIRE_WARN” messages in Java Method Server (jms) LOG

By | Enterprise content management | No Comments

After upgrading from 6.7.x to 7.2, the following warning message is logged in JMS log files: com.documentum.fc.common.DfNewInterprocessLockImpl – [DFC_FILE_LOCK_ACQUIRE_WARN] Failed to acquire lock proceeding ahead with no lock java.nio.channels.OverlappingFileLockException at sun.nio.ch.SharedFileLockTable.checkList FileLockTable.java:255) By default ACS and ServerApp dfc.properties are pointing to $DOCUMENTUM_SHARED/config/dfc.properties. Adding separate ‘dfc.data.dir’ cache folder location in ACS and ServerApp dfc.properties. After JAVA Method Server restart, two separate cache folders are created inside $DOCUMENTUM_SHARED/jboss7.1.1/server and then, WARNING messages had gone from acs.log. In…

Documentum – Cannot delete document due to VD/assembly references

By | Application integration & Middleware | 3 Comments

I went into an error that you might already have once, so here is a quick guide on how to fix it. When deleting a document from D2 I had a popup with an error like: Cannot delete file because it is still referenced in a virtual document or an assembly. Well indeed the document that I wanted to delete was previously in a VD, but for some reasons I couldn’t find the VD by…

Documentum story – Disable PDF automatic generation but allow jpeg

By | Enterprise content management | No Comments

We had a request by a customer where he wanted the pdf automatic rendition to be disabled but keep allowing the jpeg renditions to be used as thumbnails for D2. The pdf is generated by an eternal tool so it wasn’t needed here. Here is what we did: Login to the ADTS server and edit the following file: <CTS_HOME>\config\CTSServerService.xml For the repository named “DOCBASE1”, comment the QueueProcessorContext tag as follow and only if it include…

The aim of this blog is to provide you a way to configure the JMS Logs in order to align all applications logging with date information, log rotation and retention.
