A great presentation showing the difference between AWS and Oracle Cloud with amazing demos highlighting how scripting can be powerful.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure – Scripting mit dem OCI CLI by Robert Marz
This was an interesting session showing that the CLI are not dead and that it gives various possibilities even in the Cloud.

Persistent Memory: Revolutionizing the Modern Database by Gavin Parish
This session gave a real good overview how persistent memory offers many possibilities and advantages.

19 features you will miss if you leave Oracle Database by Franck Pachot
Very interesting session giving the overall message that choosing a solution should not be made on popularity but on technical expertise. Franck also demonstrated some feature that we might really miss leaving Oracle database technology : read consistency, fast load insert, in-place update, index only access, no need to reorg, cursor sharing, partitionning, optimizer enable feature, hints, RMAN, crash/media recovery, flashback, Data Guard and many others…

Interesting discussion and presentation about RAC and failover cluster going deep in the technical commands.

What a show! Hervé presented PostgreSQL Tuning based on his own experience from 22 years working with databases.

Thomas presented an excellent overview of prooth of concept and how to implement Data Guard in the Oracle Cloud.

New Features and Best Practices for Oracle ACFS by Jim Williams
Session with overview of the new ACFS features.

My first DOAG speaker experience

Moreover all, I had the opportunity to be speaker and had a session about the transport possibilities in Data Guard, and how to guarantee zero data loss in WAN environment using RedoRoutes, cascading and Far Sync.
The demos went great. I had about 30 attendees which showed having a strong interest on the subject.

Let’s have a party

With dbi services, after working time, there is always a place for fun. Our customers and many participants enjoyed and joined us to share some Ricola-coktail Apero prepared by our CEO. 🙂

Conclusion

This first DOAG in Nürnberg was a real great experience. Let’s hope to see you there next year again!
