Documentum – Deactivation of a docbase without uninstallation

By | Entreprise content management | No Comments

At some of our customers, we often install new docbases for development purposes which are used only for a short time to avoid cross-team interactions/interferences and this kind of things. Creating new docbases is quite easy with Documentum but it still takes some time (unless you use silent installations or Docker components). Therefore installing/removing docbases over and over can be a pain. For this purpose, we often install new docbases but then we don’t uninstall it,…

Documentum story – Disable PDF automatic generation but allow jpeg

By | Entreprise content management | No Comments

We had a request by a customer where he wanted the pdf automatic rendition to be disabled but keep allowing the jpeg renditions to be used as thumbnails for D2. The pdf is generated by an eternal tool so it wasn’t needed here. Here is what we did: Login to the ADTS server and edit the following file: <CTS_HOME>\config\CTSServerService.xml For the repository named “DOCBASE1″, comment the QueueProcessorContext tag as follow and only if it include…

Documentum story – ADTS not working anymore?

By | Entreprise content management | No Comments

A few weeks ago, on one of our Documentum environments, we find out thanks to our monitoring that the Renditions weren’t generated anymore by our CTS/ADTS Server… This happened in a Sandbox environment where a lot of dev/testing was done in parallel between EMC, the different Application Teams and the Platform/Architecture Team (us). A lot of changes at the same time means that it might not be easy to find out what caused this issue…   After a…

Documentum Multiple ADTS: Switching rendition queue

By | Application integration & Middleware | No Comments

As part of my previous posts about having 2 rendition servers for one docbase (see below), I’ll show you how to simply switch a rendition queue item to the other server – http://blog.dbi-services.com/documentum-multiple-adts-ratio-of-rendition-creations-between-instances-part-1/ – http://blog.dbi-services.com/documentum-multiple-adts-ratio-of-rendition-creations-between-instances-part-2/ I had an issue by a customer where one of the two rendition server was stuck since 2 days. As I explained in my previous posts, each server will reserve a group of items from the queue for it to…

ADTS missing profiles

By | Application integration & Middleware | No Comments

He he, long time no see, ADTS… It has been a long time I didn’t go into trouble with ADTS. As the new 7.2 ADTS is pretty well constituted this time the issue came from me, I admit. Once upon a time I had to migrate from ADTS 6.7 to 7.2 for a customer. Everything went fine in DEV, same in TEST and CLONE. Then the day came to push it in PROD. And *CRACK!*,…

ADTS 7.2 And Doc10 Office plugin

By | Application integration & Middleware | 2 Comments

When we upgraded our ADTS 6.7 SP2 into 7.2 we realized how great the new version was! Intro The 7.2 version changed its entire structure and cleared many useless dependencies such as Adlib. Now every files and configurations are stored in one only place! Before we had files dispersed in C:\Documentum, in Program File\Documentum, in Program Files(x86)\Adlib and so on. How do you want to find yourself with this structure! Now, everything is located under…

Documentum Multiple ADTS – Ratio of rendition creations between instances (Part 2)

By | Application integration & Middleware | No Comments

This is the second part of my previous blog concerning rendition creation ratio between two ADTS servers. In this part I will talk about another way of getting this ratio. In addition this one doesn’t require to enable auditing and this way is preferable concerning database space footprint. DMR_CONTENT This method uses objects that already exist in the docbase and are populated each time a rendition is done. Because in fact, it is the content…

Documentum Multiple ADTS: Ratio of rendition creations between instances (Part 1)

By | Application integration & Middleware | One Comment

I recently realized there are very few information about multiple ADTS instances installation and management. And we have a customer which has two ADTS running for one docbase. I therefore decided to write a couple of blog posts on “Multiple ADTS”, since it is likely to be helpful for someone in the same situation.   Rendition processing & ADTS instance This first blog post will tell you how to find out which rendition has been…

Documentum upgrade project: ADTS local user or domain user?

By | Application integration & Middleware | No Comments

ADTS local user or domain user: Which user should I choose as the installation owner? This question is important if you are installing a new Advanced Document Transformation Services (ADTS).  You can opt for a domain user in order to have one user for several ADTS installations with less AD management. Or you may want to opt for local users to separate the installations, but you will have to manage all users independently. In fact,…
