Documentum – D2+Pack Plugins not installed correctly

By | Application integration & Middleware, Entreprise content management | No Comments

In a previous blog, I explained how D2 can be installed in silent. In this blog, I will talk about a possible issue that might happen when doing so with the D2+Pack Plugins that aren’t being installed, even if you ask D2 to install them and while there is no message or no errors related to this issue. The first time I had this issue, it was several years ago but I never blogged about…

By | Application integration & Middleware, Cloud, Database Administration & Monitoring, Entreprise content management | No Comments

Day 2 of OTEW, we followed the global stream this morning which was taking most of the points from yesterday. But we had the pleasure to have a session from Dr. Michio Kaku, Theoretical Physicist, Futurist and popularizer of science. He wrote several books about physics and how he sees the future. He sees us in the next 20 years ultra connected with internet lenses, the Moore’s law will collapse in 2025 where it will…

Documentum – How to really configure the D2 JMS logs starting with JBoss/WildFly

By | Application integration & Middleware, Entreprise content management | 4 Comments

If you are working with Documentum for quite some time, you are probably familiar with the logback.xml file that can be used to configure the D2 logs. In this blog, I will be talking only about the Content Server side of this configuration. As you probably know, Documentum upgraded the JMS to use JBoss 7.1.1 “recently” (several years already) and even WildFly9.0.1 with the CS 7.3+. On this blog, I will only use “JBoss” but it refers…

Error accessing D2: Error while fetching repositories

By | Application integration & Middleware | 2 Comments

After patching our D2 we ran into an error we never had before. After all, it’s only a patch. But as you know, patching D2 means recreating the war file and deploying it again. As well as setting up again all the customs you made… Well this time we had a popup when accessing the D2 interface, which said “Error while fetching repositories”. That means D2 wans’t even able to load the list of available…

Documentum D2 4.5 and IE compatibility and F5

By | Application integration & Middleware | No Comments

We had a problem with a customer where D2 was not loading properly in IE when going through F5 (load balancer). When trying to access D2 through the F5, let’s say: https://d2prod/D2 only a few menus and some part of the workspace were loading but it ended to say “Unexpected error occured”. Investigation It would have been too easy if this error appeared in the logs, but it didn’t. So that means it was not…

Documentum story – Download failed with ‘Exceeded stated content-length of 63000 bytes’

By | Entreprise content management | No Comments

At one of our customer, we were in the middle of a migration process of some docbases from 6.7 to 7.2. A few days after the migration, we started seeing some failures/errors during simple download of documents from D2 4.5. The migration has been done using the EMC EMA migration tool by some EMC colleagues. The strange thing here is that these download failures only applied to a few documents, far from the majority and…

Documentum story – Lockbox file is newer than the active Lockbox library

By | Entreprise content management | No Comments

A few weeks ago at a customer, I was installing a completely new sandbox environment for one of our Application Teams. On this environment, we used a new version stack with the most recent patch set (at that time): CS 7.2 P16, D2 4.6 P05, aso… A new patch level means a lot of “fun” trying to install and execute the updated installers of Documentum/BPM/D2… And of course a lot of new bugs ;). In…
