Documentum – DA fail to load if accessed after D2 because of ESAPI

By | Application integration & Middleware, Entreprise content management | No Comments

In some specific cases, you might have faced an issue where Documentum Administrator is loading properly but then suddenly it’s not working anymore and all you did in between was accessing D2. I don’t remember seeing that before DA 16.x but maybe it’s just my memory that is playing me tricks! When this happen, you will see the usual pop-up on Documentum Administrator asking you to refresh/reload your screen but without any details of what’s…

Documentum – D2 Folder structure import failure with wsctf browser plugin

By | Application integration & Middleware, Entreprise content management | No Comments

Earlier today, I talked about the Export/Download that wasn’t working randomly. In the end, it was both linked to the wsctf browser plugin (that didn’t provide the necessary cookies in the download request) as well as the “loadBalancedContentServer” parameter (that was wrongly set to false). For the previous issue, setting the “loadBalancedContentServer” property to true was sufficient to solve it (see more details on the previous blog). For this blog, unfortunately, the issue has a…

Documentum – D2 Export/Download random failure with wsctf browser plugin

By | Application integration & Middleware, Entreprise content management | No Comments

The D2 clients were, until recently (D2 version 16.4 included), working by default with the java plugin mode and therefore, many actions were using a JVM on the client workstation. This setting can be controlled/set in the “WEB-INF/classes/settings.properties” file of D2 applications (D2, D2-REST, D2-Smartview) and the default value was therefore “browser.plugin.mode = java“. Starting with D2 16.5, this was changed and the default value is now “browser.plugin.mode = wsctf, thin“, meaning that it will try…

Documentum – D2-Smartview class cast exception

By | Application integration & Middleware, Entreprise content management | No Comments

D2-Smartview is a new UI that OpenText now provides starting with the version 16 of D2. It’s a lightweight UI that can perform some of the actions that D2 does. The list of features will probably increase with time but at the moment, I guess it’s more for simple users that have very basic needs, consumer like roles mainly. An interesting thing is that with a small configuration, users can switch between D2 and D2-Smartview…

Documentum – D2+Pack Plugins not installed correctly

By | Application integration & Middleware, Entreprise content management | No Comments

In a previous blog, I explained how D2 can be installed in silent. In this blog, I will talk about a possible issue that might happen when doing so with the D2+Pack Plugins that aren’t being installed, even if you ask D2 to install them and while there is no message or no errors related to this issue. The first time I had this issue, it was several years ago but I never blogged about…

By | Application integration & Middleware, Cloud, Database Administration & Monitoring, Entreprise content management | No Comments

Day 2 of OTEW, we followed the global stream this morning which was taking most of the points from yesterday. But we had the pleasure to have a session from Dr. Michio Kaku, Theoretical Physicist, Futurist and popularizer of science. He wrote several books about physics and how he sees the future. He sees us in the next 20 years ultra connected with internet lenses, the Moore’s law will collapse in 2025 where it will…

Documentum – How to really configure the D2 JMS logs starting with JBoss/WildFly

By | Application integration & Middleware, Entreprise content management | 4 Comments

If you are working with Documentum for quite some time, you are probably familiar with the logback.xml file that can be used to configure the D2 logs. In this blog, I will be talking only about the Content Server side of this configuration. As you probably know, Documentum upgraded the JMS to use JBoss 7.1.1 “recently” (several years already) and even WildFly9.0.1 with the CS 7.3+. On this blog, I will only use “JBoss” but it refers…

Error accessing D2: Error while fetching repositories

By | Application integration & Middleware | 2 Comments

After patching our D2 we ran into an error we never had before. After all, it’s only a patch. But as you know, patching D2 means recreating the war file and deploying it again. As well as setting up again all the customs you made… Well this time we had a popup when accessing the D2 interface, which said “Error while fetching repositories”. That means D2 wans’t even able to load the list of available…
